hello! my name is nic and i'm the webmaster of 51db. i'm 24 years old. here's a page where you can learn more about me!

i created this website because i wanted a space all to myself to talk about the things i love and interact with the internet in a positive way. i love the internet but the commodification of it and social media is such shit and it makes me not want to use it. so i decided to try to make this website a fun place to visit and a way more fun thing to dedicate my time to than scrolling.

i've created a handful of layouts for this site over the years although none of them were ever really "finished." i'm trying to commit to this iteration of the site and to not let myself get so caught up in perfectionism (which was the downfall of all the other layouts).

circling back to the internet - i've used it since i was very young, and most of my memories of it are really fond, especially the days where i was just playing kids' games and virtual worlds in all of my free time. i'm glad that i got to experience a small fraction of time where the internet wasn't so plastered with advertisements and it had safe places for me.

irl i like to collect cute things, take care of houseplants and cacti, cross-stitch, travel every so often, play games, and do whatever i feel like doing.

my plans for this website include making a music-focused blog for reviews (in the most informal sense), random articles, etc. because i love music! i have a lot to say about it and not enough people to listen. so it's gotta go somewhere. i also want to create lots of digital collections, of graphics and pixels, media logs, some of my physical belongings, and whatever else. i like to collect things even in virtual form... one of those collections will be a shrines section, with pages dedicated to my cat, old virtual world games i loved, my favorite media, and probably other stuff because i love a lot of things.
